This weeks game is Saturday 3:00 p.m. at Punahou. Call time is 12:30, this is a change because we will not be providing a Value Plan. Please make sure students arrive early to the band room so that we can rehearse on the LOWER FIELD at 12:30. For the game, we will be wearing our new Aloha shirts, pants, belt new marching shoes and BLACK regular length socks.
In the past we asked the parents to purchase this informal uniform. The results included difficulties buying the white pants and problems with consistency. This year the band program ordered the uniforms for the parents and will be billing accounts soon.
- The Aloha shirts (for Freshmen, Sophomores, and new students) are $45.
- Pants and belt combined is $40.
- Shoes are $32 for Freshmen and new members.
- Color guard shoes are $40, but that money was already collected instead of paying for SmartMusic.
- Black, socks are not provided, but are needed.
Our formal jacket and vest combination will likely not be ready until our October 10th game and pictures. That uniform will need to be dry cleaned as needed. There will be no additional cost this year for uniforms (except for loss or damage).
With new uniforms there are delays and we will not be able to distribute the informal uniforms until Friday morning. The pants that need to be hemmed (by parents or students) can be pinned or taped on the inside for Saturday’s game. Please have them more permanently managed by the Iolani game on the 26th. The students and families will be responsible for all of the laundering of the uniforms, detailed information for the formal uniform will be sent home later.
For the Iolani Game 9/26… We'll be collecting $5/person (includes pizza, dessert)- all family members are welcome to join us! Please pay by CHECK ONLY made out to Punahou School and place in an envelope with your child's name and MB instrument written on the envelope, and place in large manila envelope in the band office no later than Monday, Sept. 22th. Have students bring a reusable water bottle (so we can be sustainable and not go through 200+ paper cups!), apply sunscreen, bring a towel to sit on (and/or to wipe their perspiration), sunglasses are ok, except while marching at half time.
The game starts at 3:15 and should finish by 5:45 p.m. The rest of the events that night are optional and only for those who feel like they can participate and then perform well the next morning.
We may have a treat of the seniors performing their show from 2011 year about 6:15. The flaming P starts at 7:00 and the band will begin playing at 6:45 with the Oahu College Band at middle field. The entire event should be done by 8:00 which allows for our 5:00 a.m. call for the Aloha Parade the next morning.
We have been confirmed to march in the Aloha Week Parade, call time is 5 a.m. Buses leave at 5:30. We will need flowers and greenery to make our banner look beautiful. Please be ready to help and contribute before 9/27. More details to follow.
Thanks for absorbing the large amount of info this blog. September is always an intense month!
