Mahalo to the boosters for the support they provide to our marching band.
The band performed exceptionally well at the ILH Championship game both on the field and in the stands. The football team made a Mahalo poster and had a couple of tubs of cookies for the band.
Rose Parade Rehearsals
Whether the band is performing in a field performance or magical parade event, they must perform as a unified entity. It's not about the individual performer. It's about the marching band as a whole, giving the most incredible performance ever.
If someone has a bad 10 seconds in performance, it can wreak havoc on the entire band. If someone is unsure or has forgotten a step or a move, there is no opportunity to call a time out and ask for clarification.
This is why all the rehearsals are vital.
The students have spent months and countless hours practicing to showcase the best performance they have as a team for the 7 minute field performance.
Now, we have only 8 weeks left before we leave for the Rose Parade and have very limited rehearsal opportunities remaining to work through the parade material. Every rehearsal IS a big deal.
The Rose Parade is not only much more difficult and physically demanding, it is much more widely publicized then the Aloha Parade, Inaugural Parade or any field show in which the band will perform!
It will be challenging as we push forward to achieve our goals and objectives. As a team, we can do it! I'm proud of all the accomplishments our band has achieved thus far and look forward as we continue to represent Punahou in our 175th year!
Below is a link to most of the bands that performed in last year's Rose Parade. There is quite a difference in the performance characteristics. We want Punahou to look our very best!
