Participation in the Aloha Week Parade this year requires us to purchase an Aloha Festivals ribbon for each participant. The ribbon helps keep this cultural event, the Aloha Week Parade, alive and well for our community.
As our service project, we have committed to distributing 220 ribbons for $7 each. The band is donating proceeds from your purchase of the ribbon to support the efforts and needs of the Nanakuli HS band. Blythe Emler, Band Director at Nanakuli HS, works exceptionally hard to have her band students represent their community in a positive way.
Friday night call time is 5PM. We eat at 6 PM and hope to return to Punahou by 11:00pm. We will do some marching so be prepared! Uniform is Stand shirt, jeans, belt and closed toed shoes. Let's keep supporting the team like we did against Kamehameha!
Friday night there should not be any band bonding at Zippy's. We have the Aloha Parade call time at 6:15AM in the band room. We will load the buses shortly after and depart by 6:30. We will need to perform well after a short night's sleep, just like when the band performs at the Rose Parade with the need to get up at 3AM or so. Important pictures will be taken during the event, as well as a judged performance. We want to be at our best, even when we are not able to sleep as much as we would like.
Good news, flower and hala leaf donation are no longer needed. Assistance arranging the flowers on Friday is also not necessary. Our chaperones will assist the decorations the morning of the event at Ala Moana park. Many thanks to the Lei Committee for helping the band look great!
The menu for Friday night's value plan is Kalua pork and cabbage with a tossed salad and Veggie stir fry with rice. Menu is subject to change without notice.
Saturday morning's light meal provided by the food and beverage committee will be a musubi and half a banana.
There is a football game Saturday morning when we return from the parade hopefully between 11:00 and 11:30. The gate by the band room is supposed to be opened to let us in and then closed behind us. Pick up after the event is best by the Mamiya Science Center.
