Double overtime and Aloha Parade
This last week was quite a character building experience. We are very proud of the students' work and thankful for the support from the boosters and parent volunteers. The band did a great job supporting the football team and community to the end of the double overtime win over Saint Louis. Numerous people have made very positive comments appreciating how the band supports the football team and cheerleaders at these events. The staff continues to be truly amazed and thankful at how much the parents support the students and program.
The band marched in the Aloha Parade the very next morning. While the proximity of the events was unfortunate, they performed exceptionally well. The greater community greatly appreciated Punahou's cultural performance and countless people have shared their adoration of new Hawaiian music and the inclusion of hula. There was also a judged segment where the band earned first place in Hawaiian Music and 2nd place for overall band. The program will receive a $500 award for their Hawaiian Music placement. Below is a link with remarkable pictures of the band in performance.

Quite a few students rented uniform parts on Saturday. They need to be returned by Friday morning to avoid being charged another rental.
Friday's football game
Punahou’s homecoming game against Iolani will be played at our very own Alexander Field. If students do not have a 2:30 class they should come directly to the band room to get ready for a 3:00 start in the stands. The game will start at 3:15. The remaining students should come directly after they are released at 3:30. Yellow slips will NOT be given out to students to miss class.
Uniform is Aloha shirt, band pants, belt, shoes and long black socks. Students in short black socks was a big issue on Saturday morning. We will look better in long black socks.
Because the game is immediately after school, students will be offered a snack of musubi and fruit AFTER the game. Special thanks to Mark Isono for donating fruit last week and this week as healthy snack options.
After the game is completed, hopefully about 6 pm, the seniors plan to perform the show from their Freshman year - Chase – in front of the band room. Hopefully Senior parents can attend and remember their experiences from just a few years ago.
Uniforms
We will work to distribute the last part of the uniforms – jacket and hat – Friday after the football game and Saturday noon-2pm. Please take care of this responsibility.
On Friday 10/2 Please return uniform items that do not fit and smaller parts that can be donated for others to rent. Either talk to a uniform parent or donated items can be left in the uniform room.
