The band season is revving up. Mahalo to all the wonderful parents who volunteered to make the May General meeting a success;Val Choy, Larry Farinas, Marilyn and Ron Ho, Mark Isono, Dana Matlin, Sonia McMichael, Tiffany Powell and all the parents who stepped up and helped as needed each night
Summer is the time to get started in the Marching Band. We are starting to learn music, get fitted for uniforms and learning names. Mr. Falzarano's IPad will be used to make short 5 second videos to help the staff learn the names of students and some parents. These will only be shared with the staff so that names can be learned and students can feel more comfortable. Mr. Falzarano would like to make the short videos of parents so that he can have a chance to learn their names too. With such infrequent contact, this may be best way for him to get past the name-learning phase.
Student leaders are selected and starting to help get students ready for band camp. It was challenging to decide in many cases as the band has an abundant number of highly qualified candidates. This year's leadership group has the potential to be the best I have been around. Students will be working on their music, marching and coordinates. With all of these layers to consider it is great to get a head start on how to process the information. This year a greater focus will be on breaking down into smaller groups and ensuring all students' success. This will be seen in both student and staff led rehearsals.
Upcoming events
Uniform fitting will start this weekend. A big mahalo to those who have completed the online uniform measurement questionnaire. For those who have not, please complete the questionnaire by June 19.
