When schedules collide...
Missing rehearsals or performances not only may deprive a student of the opportunity to share some great times with their band family members as well as the joy that comes from experiencing getting to perform the show that they have put so much hard work into, it also directly impacts the members of the band that each student interacts with throughout our show. Because of this, we want to be proactive in trying to identify conflicts so that rehearsal and performance plans can be adjusted to lessen the impact of conflicts on the overall experience of the entire band family.
At the beginning of the year, students are expected to closely examine their sport, dance and band schedules to identify conflicts. When conflicts are identified, communication should quickly begin so that all parties may begin the process of working through the conflict.
During the school year Marching Band rehearses at 7:15-8:15 on A , C and E days, these morning rehearsal times allow the band an avoidance of most conflicts with other activities. We have tried to schedule after-school rehearsal and performance times to lessen the amount of conflicts as much as possible given the constraints placed upon the band due to travel time, performance requirements and/or issues beyond our control.
We ask that you please communicate with Mr. Falzarano or Mr. Roush if a conflict regarding schedule does exists well in advance of the conflict date. We will do everything we can to try to resolve any conflicts. The closer notification is received to the conflict date, the harder it may be to find a solution... this is why it is critical to be proactive in communicating any conflicts you may have.
We understand that emergencies can and will occur. We will address and try to work through these conflicts on a case by case manner. Please notify one of the band directors as soon as is feasibly possible so that we can try to both find a solution and/or mitigate the impact of the conflict on both the student involved and also others within the band who might be affected.
If a team/ dance schedule changes, please communicate this change to the band directors immediately. We ask that conflicts not of an emergency or rescheduling-of-games nature be brought to the band director's attention early enough that we have a solution in place one full calendar week in advance of the conflict date.
We want marching band to be a terrific experience for every student so we thank you in advance for all of your help regarding any of these matters!
